The willingness to recognise and accept how things are is acceptance. One must have the courage to allow negative thinking to influence the way we understand things without allowing it to control our approach to the future. Acceptance does not require that we give up when we have issues that impact negatively. It can be argued that acceptance requires that we refuse to live in denial and might go further to challenge the deeply held beliefs of self worth. Having a compassionate relationship with the self implies acceptance. Heal yourself by overcoming your bias of negativity towards yourself. References Luoma, J. B., Hayes, S.
